Downtown gaming now at a public loacation!

I believe I found a nice public spot for us to meet up and game close to the downtown/midtown area.

I checked out the Taproom at the Cinder Block Brewery just on the other side of the river. It looks like a great place to meetup and play some games. They let you bring in your own food, have free popcorn, and sell beer and snack food (stuff like nuts and pickled eggs). There have a good number of tables and they don't tend to get all that busy on a week night. I chatted with one of the bartenders and they would be happy to have us.

I'm able to get there a little before 5pm and hope to be able to grab the couch area they have for our group. I have a silly amount of games, which is why I tend to like to host at my place, and I'm listing some that I'm happy to bring in a comment section shortly. Let me know by Wednesday if you want a certain game there, as I'm heading directly from work to the site.

I had to make this Thursday due to my schedule this week, though I wouldn't mind keeping it this day. Opinions welcome.

I've added the event for this week. Same location and time. I hope to see you all again, and some new faces as well. I will also set up a couple more to give some time for everyone to take a look and add it to their calendars.

Had a lot of fun tonight everyone. Great turnout, with a few people that didn't even RSVP :-). I enjoyed the location, maybe a little loud for us to play the whole time in the couch area. I think starting with lighter games worked out well.

I'll set it up again for next week. I think starting with lighter games worked out well. Next time, after the light games, we will break out onto some of the tables in smaller groups if numbers and space allows .

I'm looking forward to tonight! I'm excited to start something new that might just become a regular event to look forward to. ^_^

To maybe quell some fears. We will start off with some socializing with some quick or easily joined games till we have some numbers then get into a longer game or two. Get here when you can. There will be gamers waiting or someone willing to teach you a game that is already going. I'll be the tall bearded fella most likely explaining how a game is played.

Getting a lot of interest in this being a regular time and place. After our test visit Thursday, if we like it, I'll contact the owner(s) and see about incentives for our group to continue using their location.

I haven't met the owners yet but I have heard from other homebrewers that they are really great guys - I don't know if they will give any incentives other than a place to play (which can be tough to find one that stays open past 8) but a beer discount wouldn't be a bad thing either...

If we enjoy the couch area, that reserved for us would be a boon.

This sounds great, unfortunately I cannot make it this Thursday, I have a class 5:15-8:15. I will update if this Thursday conflict changes at all (hoping it will change to not a Thursday class) otherwise I'm out on Thursdays until June. Hope its fun!

I would love to play Power Grid or Puerto Rico. I would love to learn basically any of the cooperative games or Fluxx. I'll bring a game or two myself. How will we find each other? Can you put the games out on the table or something like that?

I will have a crate of games and match my picture. I'll also attempt to create a sign. Both games will be there.

Kneepads of Allure. Also, it is cooperative in other ways till it isn't. Like Battlestar Galactica till the mid point.

      January 21, 2014

I guess I've played it so much my fellow munchkins and i take pleasure adding wandering monsters on level 2 characters and all the other fun bad stuff just to be munchkiny. In the same fashion though you can say settlers is coop with trading, until people stop trading with the person in the lead and start targeting them specifically

I heard about this place, and I was hoping to check it out after I get back to KC. It sounds awesome! I hope its a good fit, and we can do it next week when I'm back.

The games I am willing to bring are listed after I post this. I ran out of typing space. I am typically more up for Euro style games but can play most any. Also I'm happy to teach any of the games. Take a look at boardgamegeek.com if you would like some more details on the games, message me, or watch Table Top on YouTube to learn how to play the games while watching Wil Wheaton, with other celebrities, play those with a *. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3WJTlDa7oo&list=SP4F80C7D2DC8D9B6C&feature=share&index=1
