Potluck, please don't poison us. Drinks are OK. Lots of games supplied, though more are always welcome.

Do we actually need more detail than this?

I had a family emergency come up so I won't be there. Maybe next time, sorry.

A bit of bad news, folks. Even with use of the extra room, I'm worried it will be a bit too crowded. I was hoping to have gaming outside, but the weather has turned warm. It's poor form, but I'm kindly asking three or four people to wait until next month. I'll try and be as accommodating as I can and plan better for next time. Thanks.

I won't be able to make it. My apologies for the late notice.

Wow. I didn't need *everyone* to drop out. If you want to, come on.

      August 23, 2014

I have never been to one of these. I would like to attend but it sounds like you have plentyfor this month. I can wait until next month. I am looking forward to coming and meeting everyone.

You are most welcome to one of our many other board game events. Many of the people going to this one will be there.

Allen- I am going to be unable to make it. Please feel free to take my spot. My apologies for the late notice.

Looks like it's going to be a FULL house. If you have a folding chair or two, pleas bring them. Thanks!

    August 22, 2014

    • Joshua J.

I have a folding table if you need it...

      August 22, 2014

    • Gerry

I've got two folding tables already, plus a coffee table. I should be okay. Thanks, tho.

Potluck gaming tomorrow night! As a reminder, please post what you're bringing so I can coordinate a bit. Thanks!

I am new to the whole meetup thing, but I was hoping there might be room for a new person. I may not be able to arrive until 6 or 7 due to prior family thing, and as for potluck, is junk food (cheezits and swiss cake rolls) ok, or is prepared food preferred?

    August 22, 2014

    • Gerry

New people are welcome; just be prepared to wrangled into all sorts of games you've never played (or even heard of)!

      August 22, 2014

    • Gerry

Oh, and snacky food is fine. We ought to have enough prepared food for everyone to make a meal out of.

      August 22, 2014

  • Ross

I'll bring some food - Haven't decided it. Probably will include some sort of hamburger.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the game, Battlestar Gallactica is a cooperative game with all players trying to achieve the same goal. At the beginning, there may or may not be a traitor, and as the game progresses, this likelihood increases. There may even be multiple traitors. It's pretty likely Patrick is one. The game isn't complex. You only do one or two things on your turn. The common goal takes a while to accomplish, even longer with the mistrust of the possible traitor.

As a primer, you can watch
    http://youtu.be/59l5WKmJEEI
(A bit incomplete, but the shortest tutorial at 12 minutes)

    For more detail
    http://youtu.be/4qSMZXFusGo
( the first of 4 parts totaling 35 minutes. You can probably skip part 2)

    You should definitely watch
    http://youtu.be/lwBLt_qDFuA
(The gives some essentials on how to be the traitor, so you don't have to keep drawing attention to yourself looking up rules for some reason)

I've heard that some folks want to play Battlestar Gallactica. It's a 3+ hour game. Post here of you're interested. Looking for at least 2 other players.

I'm interested, but you were aware of that.

I would play but it wouldn't be my first choice...

If you plan on bringing something for the potluck, you may want to mention it here so we don't get 8 dishes of potato salad.

I was planning on pulled pork.

I'll bring some sort of a salad and possible a desert based on how busy my day is as well as wine and beer...

Got "permission" to extend the gathering into the next room, so I increased the max attendance. I also changed the start time if folks want to show up earlier. However, it's still come and go as you please.

Wish I could make it: I'm heading out of town that day for a long vacation. Enjoy!
