It's time to support another Mom & Pop business with a Cash Mob! You're invited to come out and help us "mob" DiCarlo's Mustard Seed (15015 E 40 HWY Kansas City, MO) on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00 a.m. They've got really good Mexican food, amazing atmosphere, great service and wonderful sauces. Authenticity at its best!
In case you don't know, Cash Mobs are the latest strategy to get customers to shop at mom and pop businesses rather than the big box stores. The general idea behind these 'mobs' is to encourage people from all over the community to converge simultaneously on selected independent Mom & Pop shops in order to boost business and visibility in a significant way.
Our goal is to highlight one business for one hour, and get people to shop (using CASH ONLY) to give the business an economic boost and a lot of exposure in the community. Each event tends to make an impact that spills over and benefits other local businesses as well.
THE RULES ARE SIMPLE: Show up at 11:00 a.m. SHARP with your family, friends and neighbors, plan to spend around $10-$20 (CASH ONLY), meet three new people, and have fun! Our monthly goal is to get the word out in the community and organize a crowd of philanthropic strangers to show up as a mob and support a local mom and pop business.
How does the Cash Mob process work?
First, we ask the public to come out to the Cash Mob and submit the name of their favorite Mom and Pop business. We pick three names and put them to a vote. The business with the most votes (and fits our criteria) gets mobbed.
Second, we pick a date.
Then, we pick a pledge amount. Something reasonable, like $10 or $15.
Finally, we organize. We all work together via social media and traditional avenues to inform as many people as possible to get together to influx as much cash as possible!
What we’re accomplishing:
1.) Helping sustain a business we’d like to remain in the neighborhood.
2.) Rewarding local entrepreneurs and community businesses
3.) Educating people as to the benefits of spending local.
Spreading the word via social media and rallying your friends, neighbors and community members together is what it takes to make a Cash Mob successful. This movement is a way to help support that dream and help Mom & Pop business in our area thrive.
