Hike "Tal der Hämmer"

Last week I saw a hike described in the newspaper BNN. It is located in the proximity of Baiersbronn, Murgtal. We start at Friedrichtal, just some kilometers off Baiersbronn, pass a small lake named Sankenbach and walk back to Baiersbronn.

Length: 13,5 km, meters of altitude: 200m.

As there is no place for food and drink on the way, we could have a bite to eat at the end of the tour in Baiersbronn. I will look for fancy places (I hope I can find one). Hiking shoes are recommended and of course something to drink (and eat) on the way.

We will take the S41 at 9.12 hours in front of the main train station in Karlsruhe(Vorplatz). Meeting point is in front of the entrance of the train station.

    Hi!
My husband hate hiking and getting up early on weekends. So my previous hike was around a year ago, when I visited my parents. Nice to have a company! See you on Sunday!

You are absolutely right! Let's stick to your original plan. Luckly we may have snow there since the elevation is higher. That will be more fun!

    Hi,
my problem is that I have absolutely no time on Saturday, but of course you can do the tour on Saturday. I can give to you a GPS track (gpx) I created. The tour does not have too many bendings. The weather might not be the best, but overhere we also have the same saying like anywhere else, there is no wrong weather, only wrong clothing...:-). What do the others think about that idea?

The weather forecast seems to be not good for Sunday. Any plan to move it to Saturday? We are flexible on either day. Well, the weather forecast might be more accurate tomorrow. We can wait until tomorrow and see.

Hi! This sounds lovely, I'd be keen to come - but I need to be back in Karlsruhe by 4pm or so on the Sunday... I wonder, would it be possible to come for the hike and jump on the S41 home straight afterwards and skip the meal? Do you think that we would be finished the hiking in time, and would it be an inconvenience if I left early in this way? THanks! Angie

Hi Angie, no problem. Our hike will start at around 11 am. For 14km we need, let's say no more than 3,5 hours. There is either a S41 at 14.11 hours or a S31 which is a bit quicker at 14.38 hours from Baiersbronn train station. You will be then in KA at 15.50. Check out on http://www.efa-bw.de/...

Ah Kurt - thank you for this - and I'm so sorry, I actually wont be able to come in the end after all!! Hoping to join on another soon, perhaps I can even organise one myself :) Good on you for getting the crew out and about again, and I'm sure you'll all have a great day! Angie
