Kashi School of Yoga
Led by Swami Dhumavati, who is a long time resident of Kashi. In the 1980’s and early 1990’s she spent time at Kainchi, Baba’s ashram in Northern India. Swami Dhumavati always loves to share and hear stories of Baba.
Neem Karoli Baba is the ‘father’ or, as Ma Jaya’s guru, the Paramaguru of Kashi Ashram. His murti, or statue, sits by the Ganga at the center of the Ashram. But who is he and how does the life of this Saint from Northern India, who died in 1973, affect our lives today? How do we access the essence of his teachings when he didn’t even leave any writings?
We will find out what we can about this extraordinary and elusive man by reading stories written by his students about his life, watching rare video footage of him, and doing yoga from the Baba Asana that Ma Jaya shared with us. We will hear stories from people who have recently visited his ashrams in India. We will also read some of Ma’s writings about him and what he has meant to her and why he is indeed at the heart of Kashi.
