Non Hosted - Inaugural ‘Fest of Tails’ at Cross Creek Ranch

Beginning on Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m., professional kite fliers from Kites Unlimited will launch giant-sized kites in the shapes of a lobster, frog, stingray and other creatures with tails extending more than 100 feet while kids of all ages can launch free kites available at the festival while supplies last. At 12:30 and 2 p.m., professional kite fliers will demonstrate kites controlled by multiple lines traveling up to 80 miles per hour.

While the incredible collection of kites and tails fly high above Cross Creek Ranch, tails of a different kind will be wagging closer to the ground.

The Houston Disc Dogs will perform at 11:30 a.m. followed by a pooch parade at 12:30 p.m., a 1 p.m. performance by the Houston Disc Dogs and a Furry Friends Photo booth from 1 – 4 p.m., activities that are certain to tucker out even the most active breeds.

On Sunday, April 7, the kites once again will take to the skies from noon – 4 p.m. The Houston Disc Dogs will perform at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. while the Furry Friends Photo Booth will operate from 1 – 4 p.m.

Families and leashed dogs of all sizes are invited to participate in the two days of fun. Free kites and free canine frisbees are available while supplies last. Families are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs. Entertainment and food from Pepperoni’s Pizza, Dekker’s, Victors, Sweet Treats and Sno Cones also will be available.

While at the inaugural Fest of Tails, families can tour the largest model home collection in the Houston area with 12 fully furnished residences from Highland Homes, Lennar Homes, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes, Trendmaker Homes and Village Builders. The community also offers a gated, custom-home neighborhood, The Lakes at Cross Creek Ranch, with home sites from the $650’s to $1 million. Each home site in The Lakes at Cross Creek Ranch offers impressive lake views from custom homebuilders Avanti Custom Homes, Huntington Homes, Partners in Building and Taylor Morrison Homes.

Cross Creek Ranch, one of the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities, also will open a second pool this summer, joining the community’s signature Water Park at Adventure Island where families enjoy a 200-foot water slide, Splash-n-Spray Park, wading pool and tanning shelves with water jets to create one of west Houston’s most complete water experiences.

I wasn't able to go on Saturday so I went today. Only 2 kites were flying but they were gorgeous. Beautiful day to be outside taking pictures.

This does sound like fun. I might attend but will probably only be able to do it Sunday. My kids would love this!! Thanks for posting and so sorry I've been MIA. Had a new addition to our family along with some issues and scares. :)

It is fun to post these events so that you can go when it fits your schedule. This should be a great event for kids and families and I encourage you to get some shots of the kids having a great day. Be sure to post a couple of your best shots on our site.

Sounds Like a great photo op. Reading up on taking backlit photos. Anyone have any tips?
