KCC Breakfast and a Hike along the Maha'ulepu Cliffs

Kauai Community College puts on a fabulous breakfast every year as a fundraiser for their culinary program.  There will also be established vendors with offerings as well.  Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door.

Then after our bellies are full, Denny has suggested a hike along the south shore cliffs of Maha'ulepu.  Easy walk along the sand dunes, and maybe even stop in to view the Sinkhole (Makawahi Cave) along the way.  Rather than hike all the way from Shipwreck, maybe start at Gillins or Kawailoa and hike to Ha'ula and the 4th beach in too.  (No not going all the way to the peak overlooking Kipu Kai, just turning around at the 4th Beach.

Yes,  you can do just the breakfast and not the activity, or just the activity and not the bike ride.  Trouble is, I can't guarantee when the breakfast will be over, as it sometimes takes a while to go through the line.  If you are interested in the activity only, we can set a meeting time/place to carpool or caravan.

There is a book sale at the college, and if I poke my head in there, I might not come out for 30 minutes or so.  ;-)  Anyone wanting to on just the hike could meet at KCC and we can carpool from there.

Hey Julie what time n where will we meet for Kcc breakfast?

I was hoping to get in line at about 9:30. Last year, there was a long wait. Denny is looking to arrive at 9:45. So somewhere in that time frame would be good. I'll try to park down by the Performing Arts Center, as I think the line started back there last year.

I changed my profile pic to one that shows my face, so you can recognize me. If you have a cell phone, you could call or text me once you get there, and I'll tell you where we are. [masked]

Anyone wanting to join in on just the hike along Maha'ulepu is welcome to. Probably could meet at KCC at 11:30 or so... Hope to venture out to the 4th beach in and turn around. Not a long hike or difficult hike, not all the way to Kipu Kai Lookout, for sure!

Sure! That way we don't have to worry about bikes. That's easy and maybe we can even get a tour of the Makauwahi Cave and see the tortoises before the hike.

Hi Julie - I'd like to join you, but just arrived for a visit on the islabd and have no bike! Is there a bike rental near either of the trails you mentioned? It would be great if we could pull something together!

Yes, there are bikes to rent at the bike trail head in Kilauea, you can see some photos of previous rides there, starting at Kauai Mini Golf and looping around by the Waikoa Dam and by the Common Ground Restaurant and back to the Mini Golf place. Bike rentals there are $20.84. You can also rent a bike elsewhere and transport it on my bike rack. Alternatively, you might just want something easy like the bike path in Kapaa, with many bike rentals right there. I had suggesed the Kauai Lagoons ride, since it's in Lihue. I'm not sure of the bike rental places there, but I'm sure there are some.

Hey Julie, a co worker bought me a ticket and my friends not attending. I can meet up with you for the breakfast

Wonderful! We'll see if anyone else wants to meet us too. We don't need a huge group. If it's just you and me, that's fine! We'll touch base beforehand to firm up any plans. Thx. Get your hungry on!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
