Arts & Crafts Meet-Up

Let's create and play!

Maybe we  can run this once a month, each time a different theme - bring snacks and art supplies to share.

Let's turn some music on and pretend we are children once again - laughing and having fun while creating some fun arts and crafts together.

Yes it was so nice to meet all that came. I'd love to do it again this Sunday from 3-5 at same place. I can show everyone how to wire wrap a stone or piece of sea glass. I have sea glass and wire to share or you can bring your own piece or stone. Anyone who has pliers bring them so we can work at the same time. They don't have to be specifically for jewelry-making but small kine are best. If you want to come, but aren't into jewelry, it would be great if you brought whatever craft you want! I like the idea of people just coming together to be creative and share ideas and inspiration.

I will try to make it! I broke a bracelet so I'd like some tips on how to repair it if that's ok?

Everyone was delightful to talk story with. Valerie taught us how to make earrings and shared her beading supplies . A great event with exceptionable friendly members and Small Town Coffee House Staff asked us if we would like to continue the Arts and Crafts Meet up group.

I can't make this now due to a change in plans that I just found out about today. Hopefully can join in on the next one! Will be in Kappaa on Monday night and available after 6 pm if anyone wants to hang out for a couple of hours for the sunset (and you happen to read this.) Maybe another "Welcome Summer" mini acknowledgement by the Sea would be fun. Acknowledge here or in an email if game: Riff at Riffero dot com. :)

Hey I'm only on the Island a couple of days before I have to leave again, so don't think I'll make it this time, but am really looking forward to attending one of these when I have more time.. Have fun...

  • Valarie W.

Hello again - let's meet at the Small Town Coffee shop between 2:30 and 3pm. They are open until 5pm and the owner said she'd love us to come. Yay! It will be fun and cozy, delicious coffee and snacks if we want, and no stress worrying about finding a table or avoiding too much sun or rain outside. I'll be there will bells on (and my paints, or jewelry making stuff, or both). I really look forward to meeting you ladies! Lisa or other admin - will you update the location and time, please? Thank you!

  • Valarie W.

Dawn would you be able to join if we moved it earlier , say 2pm?

    June 18

  • Valarie W.

I just left a message at the Kapa'a neighborhood center. Thanks again Dawn. Since it's coming up so quick, we can also meet at Lydgate and just find a picnic table if the center is not an option. Option 3 is to meet at Small Town Coffee and simply chat and plan a more organized meetup. I doubt that all 20 people who have RSVP'd yes to this event are really coming, so for the next one we should create a new event.

  • Kiersten

    Yes this sounds fun!

    June 17

  • Valarie W.

Hey all - the pavilions at Lydgate are not available this Saturday, 6/21. The next time the small one is available is July 27th. I'm sorry for the short notice, I didn't realize how popular it is. The question now is, does anyone have space to host, or know of another public place we can meet? I would love to host, but don't have the table space and I live on south side. Tentative time set for 3pm to 4:30 or 5. I hope this works and I'm flexible for other times, too.

    June 15

    • kaimiana

My cottage would be too small to host. I wonder if the Lihue or Kapaa Community Neighborhood Centers allow meet up groups to use their facility's?

      June 15

  • Valarie W.

Ok, Oh my gosh I have been so busy, and I really want to do this! It looks like there is plenty of interest, too. Awesome. So... how about this. I volunteer to set up the first creative crafty meet-up and will set the date/place. Whoever can come, can, and if no can, no can. I really love Dawn's idea of going to Lydgate, it's central and there will be lots of room/tables. We can all bring whatever supplies we'd like for this first one and we can organize a specific craft activity later on if we want to. What if we start off with one per month and if others want to organize meetings more frequently, great! I'm just going to go for it for June 21st and if Lydgate Pavillion isn't available, I'll look for other options. I can't wait to get together and meet everyone.

If everyone could please reply if you can come that would be great. Oh, and I don't think I can make any changes to this meetup - can someone do that for me?

    June 5

    • Valarie W.

Thanks, Lisa. I'd say 3-4:30 pm would be a good time, but the location is still TBD. Kaimiana, I'm thinking for this first meetup we all bring our ideas and whatever supplies we'd like, play around with whatever strikes our interests and talk about scheduling more specific crafts for future meetups.

What should be bring? What will the art theme be? Should we just bring craft tools we have?
Thank you for scheduling a date and location.

A friend of mine was just telling me about her experience in a craft group where each person creates a part of the craft before passing it along to the next person, and on and on, so that in the end each piece reflects a collaborative effort from each member of the group. Could be fun to try! :)

I've heard the Lydgate Pavillions can be reserved at the Mayor's office in Lihue for a deposit down and if left clean you get the deposit back... Wouldn't it be fun just to bring whatever art supplies we have on hand and just share different idea's and supplies... Everyone can bring whatever they want to snack on too.. I'm off the Island part of the month so wouldn't want to be the main organizer but have supplies and will participate! Maybe one day a month to start??

I would like to create any piece of art. My supplies are mostly paints and scrapbook punchers. we can bring our own craft supplies, or if someone has a art project idea, we can all pitch in for the supplies needed to do that particular craft. Park Pavillions are good possible places to start a meet up craft group.

Hi all, not sure if anyone has decided on what craft to do or what date, but I'm interested in joining! I like to make jewelry and paint, and love to just make things out of scrap/recycled materials. It seems that there are enough people interested in crafts that we could make our own Crafty Kauai meetup group. Anyone else down for that?

YES Valarie. I am in.. Recently just moved to the Homesteads in Kapaa and I really like your idea... Any one of the parks with a Pavilion or picnic tables would be fine... There is a coffee shop in Kapaa I believe that has craft night on Tuesday's too... I have a picnic table outside at my place for maybe 4-5 people and we could just put out a few snacks, turn some music on, paint, do crafts and just play..

Great! I am on the southside but love coming to the north whenever I can. If we can get together on a weekend I can make it to Princeville, or to the eastside, or where ever. I think it would be great to alternate on the locations, and I love Dawn's idea of hosting at homes. I would love to do the same.

We could do something at Lydgate.. I guess the pavilion can be reserved at the county bldg and is free if it's left clean... We could make silk screen Tee-shirts out of different Big leaves. Everyone bring white tee shirts, and a variety of tree leaves, flower's etc.. Just and idea... =)
