Spend the day with Bill Smith in Hanalei - Hike, SUP, BBQ

Hey old friends!  Bill Smith is coming back to Kauai.  An ideal day for him would be to meet some old friends & maybe some new ones to hike the Okolehau Trail then gather at Black Pot Beach for some "Grillin and Chillin" and SUP if you have (or rent) and any other water toys you can bring.

If you can make it for the hike, we'll meet in the parking lot across from the trailhead at 9am.

If you're not familiar, here's how to get to the Okolehau Trail Head:  At the Hanalei Bridge (black metal and wood) there is a small road going inland (Ohiki Rd) and if you drive a little ways.. maybe less than a mile, you'll see the trailhead on the right and the parking area on the left.  The hike is pretty steep in places.  You can find photos of some of the other times we've hiked it.  There is a gorgeous view of Hanalei Bay from the top.

If you can only make it for the SUP & BBQ portion, just show up at Black Pot Beach Park whenever you can that afternoon.  Bring something you can share in the food/beverage category.  Bill's planning to grill chicken, have salad and fresh fruit.  Adult beverages may be involved.  Bill is a bartender extraordinaire as well as an outdoor adventure enthusiast!

RSVP if you can come.  See you then!

Assuming the hike is still going on, I'll be at the Trail Head at 9am, not sure if Suzette is going. I left a message on her phone. I can still only do the hike portion - as I have to be home by about 1pm to get ready for work.

Hi Suzette, There are many descriptions of the hike online and in hiking books, here is one link to answer your questions. http://trails.sierraclub.org/trails/default.aspx?name=Okolehao_Trail

It's less than 2.5 miles roundtrip, to the usual turnaround point, but some hikers go a bit further, which is about 3.6 miles RT. The hike is moderately strenuous. It's a good cardio workout if you walk briskly. Sounds like there might be people going on this hike that aren't part of this group or havne't rsvp'd, so the count might not be accurate I may have to bow out or do the hike quickly so I can get back home (to Kapaa) by 1pm, so I can get to work on time. If anyone rides with me, I'd have to go straight home after the hike... no SUP or BBQ for me. I might have to catch another activity on one of my days off.

Not a problem. A number of other people are coming. We have other members coming everyday. We already planned to do the hike on the 22 as well. If you can make it by it would be good to see you.

Oops! I thought I had the day off but I just realized I DO have to work in the afternoon this day. So, I can go on the hike, but I don't think I can stay for the picnic and SUP. Now the only day I'm totally free is Oct 22nd. The rest are just half days before or after my gigs north and south. I hate it when work gets in the way of fun - but at least I love my job too! Do we know if others are joining in who haven't rsvp'd to this outing?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
