Hi Taylor, I was also under the impression that we will be starting at the river, but Loren said this evening at his birthday gathering, that we are going for a hike first, so you need to get to Costco for 9 AM.

I will be there at Costco - 9 am; thanks.

    Dennis, thanks for confirming w/John.

I got this from John this morning:

Got it. I have some breakfast briefings to do in Poipu on Sunday morning so I will set up the two singles in my yard so they will be ready for you to take anytime you arrive. Keep in mind that kayak traffic on the Wailua should hug the north side of the river. Mahalo. John

I just online for renting a kayak, and the website for Wailua Kaya & Canoe,[masked] said they were closed on Sunday. So Loren, where do you suggest I rent one?

Rebecca, did you rent from John ? I don't know him. I'm grateful for any leads.

    Thanks, Dennis

If I can't rent one, I'll go cycling instead!

I called loren this morning, and he said to meet at Costco at the 9 AM time, and then we'll go and rent the kayaks. And one final comment...Loren! This would have been so much easier if you had have given more details up front and saved Rebecca and I a lot of running around!!!

If you know where the Wailua River Bridge is, my driveway is on the north guardrail of the bridge on the main hiway. If you approach from Kapaa you will see the remains of the Coco Palms Resort on your right. Continue past the stoplight at Kuamoo Rd. Do not turn on Kuamoo but continue on the main hiway. My driveway is the only possible right hand turn you can make before you cross the bridge. Look for a yellow sign picturing a bicycle with the words "Share the Road". My driveway is immediately after that sign and only a few feet away from the bridge. My mailing address is on another street so I don't want to confuse you by giving out an address that will lead you to a different house. Just trust your judgement to stay on the hiway right up to the bridge and look for my driveway. It's a white house and just a few feet away from the mouth of the river.

Let me know when you plan to arrive on Sunday and I will have them set up.

    Hi John, thanks!

We are meeting Loren at 9 AM, Sunday, at Costco, so I expect we'll be at your place 9:15 to 9:30 AM.

2 singles kayaks, one for Rebecca and one for me!

    Thanks,

Hi, Dennis. I left a note for Rebecca this morning. I do have two singles available and four doubles. Each kayak is $20 for Kauai Adventure Club members. Here are directions to my place:

Loren, why are we meeting at Costco, since Rebecca and I have to rent a boat. Can we meet you where we will put the boats in the water. Please give detailed directions. Thanks.

Loren - I got in touch with John about the kayak rental and see an issue with transporting the kayak myself, which I don't feel comfortable with.

Dennis - are you renting from John as well and how are you transporting. I prefer a single kayak

    thanks.

Hi Rebecca, I haven't rented anything yet as I am waiting for loren to reply. I hope to talk to him tomorrow. Or you and I can rent a canoe!

Hey Dennis, I would really prefer a single kayak and have coordinated with John on a possible rental. If you are not able to maneuver as a single, then I would be willing to share a kayak with you. I like a kayak over a canoe. Let me know; thanks.

I am visiting as well and will need to rent a kayak; thanks.

Where can I rent a kayak or canoe near to where you are going?

john bohling who's a member of kauai adventure club rents out kayaks and lives just at the bottom of the wailua river. send him a message!

    Loren,
I'd like to join you. As your canoe is full at the moment, I could rent. Is it convenient? If the water is relatively calm I could handle a kayak, or I could share a canoe with one other person.
