Na Aina Kai "Hoaloha Day" $10 Self Guided Garden Tour

Every year, Na Aina Kai offers a special day to the public.  Here is the blurb off their website for this year's Hoaloha Day.  More info here:  http://naainakai.org

HOALOHA DAY (WELCOME FRIENDS)
DATE: Monday, January 21St, 2013
TIME: 9am-1pm Last Entry At Noon

For $10 you will stroll through the Formal Gardens. Enjoy a tropical lagoon with fountains, a waterfall, and colorful koi fish; a full-size hedge maze; desert and palm gardens. You will also enjoy a sampling of life size bronze sculptures along the way. Maps will be provided. No reservations are required. Self guided tours are from 9am-1pm, last entry at noon. No picnicking allowed. Na `Aina Kai is located at the makai end of Wailapa Road in Kilauea. For directions or more information call 828-0525. Don’t miss this great opportunity to enjoy the Gardens!

I'm posting this more for informational purposes than a formal meetup, since people can arrive anytime they like to stroll the gardens for $10.  I'm not sure what time I'm going yet or if I'll even go.  If we do want to make it a true meetup, we can decide on a time.  They used to offer "Ohana Day" which was FREE and very crowded.  With the $10 fee, it will likely cut down the crowd drastically.  If you are on the north shore near Kilauea, the stroll through the gardens is a nice way to pass an hour or two.

I should mention that the guided tour of the formal gardens is usually $35 I think, so it's a savings.  This self guided stroll is not equivalent to the $85 private tour, where you see more of the property down to the beach, etc.  With this self guided tour, you only see a limited portion of the grounds.

I'm not going -- decided to stay in and work -- but Peter is already there and is hoping to run across some other members... If anyone wants to meet up, I can share some phone numbers I have for members who have called me and you can "find" each other.

Hi Jeanne, I'm not even sure if I will go or not, I was just posting this as an informative idea for those wishing to tour the garden for a greatly reduced price on this special day. I've done this before, so I don't really need to go, but it's an enjoyable way to spend the morning. Anyone who is sure about going can post a time to meet and walk through the garden together. Maybe you could post a time that you plan to be there and others could meet you at the gate? I'm only "ghost hosting" since I'm not sure I will go - I just thought many of our members might have an interest in this to tour together.
