HOALOHA DAY (WELCOME FRIENDS)
DATE: Monday, January 21St, 2013
TIME: 9am-1pm Last Entry At Noon
For $10 you will stroll through the Formal Gardens. Enjoy a tropical lagoon with fountains, a waterfall, and colorful koi fish; a full-size hedge maze; desert and palm gardens. You will also enjoy a sampling of life size bronze sculptures along the way. Maps will be provided. No reservations are required. Self guided tours are from 9am-1pm, last entry at noon. No picnicking allowed. Na `Aina Kai is located at the makai end of Wailapa Road in Kilauea. For directions or more information call 828-0525. Don’t miss this great opportunity to enjoy the Gardens!
I'm posting this more for informational purposes than a formal meetup, since people can arrive anytime they like to stroll the gardens for $10. I'm not sure what time I'm going yet or if I'll even go. If we do want to make it a true meetup, we can decide on a time. They used to offer "Ohana Day" which was FREE and very crowded. With the $10 fee, it will likely cut down the crowd drastically. If you are on the north shore near Kilauea, the stroll through the gardens is a nice way to pass an hour or two.
I should mention that the guided tour of the formal gardens is usually $35 I think, so it's a savings. This self guided stroll is not equivalent to the $85 private tour, where you see more of the property down to the beach, etc. With this self guided tour, you only see a limited portion of the grounds.
