INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED PADDLERS-NO RENTALS!
Waters can get rough if a storm blows in unexpected-which often happens there!
ARRIVE BY 8:30 AM-this is a holiday weekend and the park will be busy-the launch is before the park - there are a couple of 50cent tolls to get there-SEE MAP and description below
We will launch at exactly 4 miles down SR 679 on right. This is a great put in spot that allows for multiple cars. Turn left on 679--go over small bridge-go past Tony and Nellos restaurant on right-launch will be on right about 1.5 mile afterwards...you have gone too far if you get to the 50 cent toll into DeSoto.
We will paddle to Shell Island with its wonderful white sandy beach, as well as in and around the bay and through the mangroves. Most of the water in the park is relatively shallow and protected and provides shelter for dolphins, manatees, wading birds, shorebirds, snook, mullet, redfish, trout, and scores of other varieties of wild creatures.
BRING A LUNCH and your bathing suit!
