Paddle with the Manatees

With a major cold front coming next week, there should be plenty of manatees moving up into the Orange River. We will meet at 9 AM and be ready to paddle by 9:30. Pay the "iron Ranger" in front of the concession building when you enter the park ($2 per hour or $5 for the day).

I have a prior commitment so I must cancel. This should leave two slots open as Carole can't make it either.

We may paddle here on Sunday the 5th or Monday the 6th since we will be gone back home to Colorado by the time Jack leads this trip. Jack has filled us in on the details necessary to do this trip so if you want to do this paddle earlier in the week, let my wife Mary, and me know. Thanks Jack for braving the wind with us and the use of your boats on Lake Myaakka on that windy day.

Will there be kayaks available and how far are we paddling ?
    Thx

    January 4, 2014

    • Jack C.

Yes, they have kayaks for rent at Manatee Park. How far you paddle is up to you. You can paddle as little as 1/4 mile and see manatees or paddle all the way to the Caloosahatchee River and back (4-5 miles total)
