Telegraph Creek off the Caloosahatchee - fun creek to kayak - very scenic

Launch is south side of the Caloosahatchee River section of the Okeechobee Waterway, W.P. Franklin Lock Recreation Area. Has full facilities, swimming, fishing, picnic areas, boat launch. Trip is about 4 hours - depends on how far we paddle up the creek.

From Sarasota, take I-75 south to exit 141 State Road 80 (Palm Beach Blvd.). Turn left onto State Road 80 east for about 7.5 miles. Look for and follow the brown WP Franklin Lock sign on Highway 80 for the left turn onto Old Olga Road then follow the brown signs leading you into the Franklin Lock Recreation Area. Drive straight ahead into the "Observation Area" parking. Do not turn left into the "Beach or Boat ramp" area. We will launch on the west side of the "Observation Walk". GPS Coordinates [masked],-81.693533.

BRING: WATER, BUG SPRAY, SUNSCREEN, WATERPROOF CAMERA, HAT, LUNCH. Also don't forget paddle and pfd:) and kayak:):)

I will provide a phone number for members at a later date so we can successfully meet here.- Tom

Thank you all for coming out and sharing time on a beautiful creek. Enjoyed seeing the Zebras, camel, llamas, eagle and owl. It was a very nice time with nice company.

Can't make this but it is one of my favorites! I did it a few weeks ago and the water level was the highest I have seen it there....makes for a fast current and low hanging branches. Have FUN!
