Tues, August 5-Paddle Great River, Waquoit Bay, Sedge / Sage Lot Pond in Mashpee

Launch from ramp pictured above into Great River and paddle a short distance into Waquoit Bay. We'll have South Cape Beach State Park on our left, as we go down to Dead Neck on South Cape Beach to take a break, shown below.

It is soon after high tide, so there will be enough water for us to get into beautiful Sage Lot Pond or Sedge Lot Pond (2 different names on 3 different maps).

If the forecast on Monday afternoon/evening is for high winds on Tuesday, the paddle will be postponed until Wednesday.

DIRECTIONS: Exit 5 off US 6, south on MA 149 to Rt 28. Turn right/west on 28 and go about 5 miles to the Mashpee Rotary. Exit off the rotary on Great Neck Road (direction of New Seabury). Go 2.7 miles and bear left on Great Oak Road. Drive 1.9 miles and take right onto Town Landing Road....there is a sign for Great River Boat Landing. Go to the end of the road to the little circle and unload your boat. Go back up the road to park beyond the No Parking signs. Park off the pavement.

We will be in the water and moving at 10:00. Hope many of you can do this new paddle. A group member, Joan, and I scouted this a week ago and it's a great paddle.

Excellent paddle....ideal day to cross Waquoit Bay to get to Washburn Island......almost no motor boats, little wind. We paddled Sedge Lot Pond and took a break. Then to Washburn Island and took another break : ) Great atmosphere at Sienna Restaurant after the paddle.

The weather looks great tomorrow in Mashpee/Falmouth >>> fog clearing just as we launch, wind under 10 mph and not hot.

The map linked to the page is correct when I look at it....Stephen sees a different map. Please make sure that you follow the directions provided...or use the map, if the two match : )

See you in the water by 10:00

Stephen sees an entirely different map from the one I see on this page. His is incorrect. Mine is correct. Please look at your map and tell me if the pointer is at the end of Town Landing Rd, Mashpee. Thanks.

I will have to drive two hours to the Cape. The weather predicted in advance will definitely govern whether I will be able to attend for sure. Thanks.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
