Punkhorn Parklands is a gorgeous 875 acre conservation area in Brewster with 3 ponds that we paddle once a month.
We'll leave from the Punkhorn Parklands parking lot at the end of Run Hill Road and walk about 2 miles on dirt roads.
This is a HUGE beautiful area. It's like Bell's Neck or Hawksnest, where you can stay on dirt roads and be surrounded by deep woods. Unlike Bell's Neck, there are almost no cars on these roads, so dogs can safely be off leash.
The plan is to stay 100% on dirt roads so that people and dogs can avoid tick habitat. If it is hot, before the walk, dogs can ignore the sign that says NO DOGS and get wet at the end of the boat ramp. If there is a paddle-board class being held, they are usually up on the side and away from the ramp. I like my dogs to be wet when they begin a walk in hot weather.
DIRECTIONS: Heading west on 6A in Brewster, pass Tubman on your left, then take a left fork OFF 6A onto Stoney Brook. Pass Paines Creek Rd, then take left onto Run Hill. Drive to the end. The parking lot is where the paved road ends and becomes a dirt road.
Heading east on 6A, take right on Stoney Brook Rd. Pass Setucket/Satucket that comes in on your right.. take the next right onto Run Hill Rd. Go to the end. See above.
Guests are welcome if they like dogs off leash.
