Mon, Sept 29 - Walk Punkhorn Parklands, Brewster

RSVPs for walks have really tapered off in September, so if only 1 or 2 people sign up for this walk, I'd absolutely like to do the walk, but you'll need to reconfirm on the 28th that you still intend to walk and then call me in the morning of the 29th that you are headed to the walk. I'll email my phone #.   Otherwise, I would make plans to walk with a friend. Thanks.

Punkhorn Parklands is a gorgeous 875 acre conservation area in Brewster with 3 ponds that we paddle once a month.

We'll leave from the Punkhorn Parklands parking lot at the end of Run Hill Road and walk about 2 miles on dirt roads.

This is a HUGE beautiful area. It's like Bell's Neck or Hawksnest, where you can stay on dirt roads and be surrounded by deep woods.  Unlike Bell's Neck, there are almost no cars on these roads, so dogs can safely be off leash.

The plan is to stay 100% on dirt roads so that people and dogs can avoid tick habitat. If it is hot, before the walk, dogs can ignore the sign that says NO DOGS and get wet at the end of the boat ramp. If there is a paddle-board class being held, they are usually up on the side and away from the ramp.

DIRECTIONS: Heading west on 6A in Brewster, pass Tubman on your left, then take a left fork OFF 6A onto Stoney Brook. Pass Paines Creek Rd, then take left onto Run Hill. Drive to the end. The parking lot is where the paved road ends and becomes a dirt road.

Heading east on 6A, take right on Stoney Brook Rd. Pass Setucket/Satucket that comes in on your right.. take the next right onto Run Hill Rd. Go to the end. See above.

Guests are welcome on all walks (not on paddles).

Jack, Copper & I enjoyed a nice walk in great weather in Punkhorn. Remi had a brief walk and then objected to being left in the car, but she can't do long walks any more.
