Yarmouth Port, MA
Hometown: Nokomis, FL & YarmouthPort, MA

Organizer since:

September 18, 2011

Please confirm that you are an experienced, energetic paddler who can paddle at about 3.7 mph for a couple of hours. If you are not, you can join us on walks, but not on kayaking trips.

I have paddled on Cape Cod and in Florida for many years...mainly rivers, creeks and marshes where houses are not in view for most of the paddle. I am on the water twice a week all year long.

How many miles can you comfortably paddle? You need to be able to paddle 7-8 miles at a good speed with only one short break, in order to paddle with us. Sometimes, we are not able to get out of our boats for that break.

3 hours seems ideal.....7-8 miles is good unless it is windy. Only paddle sheltered creeks when it is windy.

Do you plan to walk with us? If so, will you bring your dog?

I plan to bring one or both of my well behaved German shepherds with me on all of the walks. Remi is my super friendly and perfect female and Copper is my handsome male who is not even considering perfection.

Have you read and do you agree to the Waiver of Liability ? You need to answer that you have read the waiver and do agree with it.

I read it and agree to it.

Please read. No need to respond. No guests on paddles ever. People who are "no shows" twice will be automatically dropped from the group. You can change your "YES" RSVP to "NO" any time before the paddle, but "no shows" are not welcome in the group.

Enjoy meeting active people who enjoy paddling, walking, birding, dogs, and organic gardening. I lead birding trips for Venice Audubon, Sarasota Audubon and at Oscar Scherer SP.

What Joyce is saying about this Meetup Group

Just had the last paddle today... until next October. This season went really well...lots of paddles and lots of really fun people to kayak with. I stopped posting dog-friendly walks because no one was RSVPing...may try again next fall/winter. Have a great summer and I'll see you in the fall. Joyce.
