Paddle from Rudee Inlet

Meet at Owl Creek boat ramp paddle out to Rudee Inlet. If conditions permit we will go into the Ocean and look Dolphin. Depending on conditions this paddle could be suitable for most experienced paddlers. Upon reaching the jettys paddlers will be able to decide if conditions are suitable for their abilities. There may be heavy boat traffic in this area, this is a No Wake Zone so traffic will be slow moving. Be aware of what is going around you. PFD required.

Without a spray skirt would work, maybe. I have never been on the ocean, so I don't know what to expect, but I am not a fan of sprayskirts without practice after I half drowned with one myself.

How experienced do you need to be for this paddle?

It all depends on the weather. My 11 year old son has done this trip a few times in a little 9 ft sit on top. With the current forecast it should be an easy paddle for anyone. Just listen to the guide to navigate to Jetty.

Sundays weather forecast calls for Northeast winds at 5 knots with seas at 2'. These swells should be well spaced and easy to take in a recreational kayak. These are close to perfect conditions. There is a paddle of about 1 mile to get to the Ocean. If you decide you don't want to go into the Ocean, there is Lake Westley on the right as we enter the jetties, should be an interesting place to explore.

Sounds great, but I think I need to start back with more beginners' paddles first.
