February 2012

Hello HRKayak meetup members!

The winter has been mild and we've had the meetups to prove it!  Good job to all of you who don't let a little cold slow you down!

A big thanks to all who talk the talk and walk the walk when it comes to paddling safety.  We've had a few issues with people not wanting to wear their life jackets on meetup paddles and not dressing appropriately for the conditions, and I appreciate being kept in the loop when that happens.

If you're uncertain how to dress, contact me and I'll help you out.  If you know how to dress but don't want to "wear all that stuff", please don't show up to meetup paddles!!  Anyone who does that is a danger to themselves, and worse, a liability for the group.

As always, some of our new members haven't paid the annual $3.00 fee for the meetup, and some members have expired.  The number next to your name is the date you last paid, so if it's over a year ago, you're due!

Below is a link to an article I put out last year, seems timely now for a re-read.  Enjoy!

Go paddle and be safe,
