very nice! Lots of kayaks to try, and knowledgeable folks to speak with.

Where is the demo located at the park?

Is this pond large enough to paddle around a canoe? I though of attending and checking out the merchendise but also getting a little paddling in with my canoe. Unless I can just paddle the kayaks...

You should just paddle around their stuff. Won't want everyone thinking they could paddle your canoe too! :)

I bike and run regularly at Collins/Meyer Park. It's a small pond and they don't allow any boats there, just fishing. I'm guessing this is and exception for the event.

Note: the demo is in the pond that is towards the back. Go to ACK demo page. Toward bottom is directions to Meyer Park and a direct link to the pond. From Google Earth, it looks like there may be another entrance to the pond from Cypresswood, but I'm not positive. http://www.austinkayak.com/p/demo

Just curious...how many people are actually looking to buy and how many just want to play with the merchandise? :)

I'm not planning to buy, but I'm always thinking about what the next entry in my fleet might be. :) And I bought my first kayak from ACK shortly after attending one of these events.

This is NOT a meet up where we all meet and then do it. It's an announcement meet up for one of our sponsors. This is a chance for all our members to go and hang out and test paddles kayaks all day. It will give you a feel of what other boats feel like and IF you are in the market for a new boat then you can rule out what you like and don't like about the different makes and models. You can also talk to the REPS of the kayaks and products.

Pond is way too small for this.
Northshore Park in Woodlands would have been better

I'm interested, though I didn't realize the pond at Meyer park was big enough to do much paddling in. :)
