Take an adult paddling class

The Bayou Shuttle Service is offering FREE kayak classes at Discovery Green. The class is broken into two stages. * Stage 1: Safety and Instruction * Stage 2: Supervised Paddling where you get into a kayak and paddle around Kinder Lake to practice what you learned. This is the FREE early evening class and we are all volunteers for this. You can come for the class or just to hang out and offer some help. This event is open to the public so it's more then just meet up members. This is intended to be the adult class. Because this is a paddling class-NO TANDEMS, we want everyone in the boat to learn to paddle. We have all the gear so you just need to show up. It is all free to you. High chance of your rear getting wet!! So a towel is helpful.

There will be an advanced training for some of you that have taken the class a few times and want a little more training. ( As long as someone shows up that can get the waivers signed so Rico can teach the re-enter class) You will get completely wet for this and you will get into deep water. This is a part that all paddlers MUST learn, how to get back in if you fall out. Hope to see everyone again this fall!

Because this event is also open to the public we were able to teach basic paddling to over 86 people in just over an hour and a half. Thanks to all that came out and support this event and special THANKS to Keith for helping out with everything! If we could get enough volunteers I would like for this to be divided into 3 areas, one to go over kayak paddling safety, the paddling class and then the getting in the boats and paddling.

Once again, thank you everyone that helped!

For the free paddle class then last night was the most!! We have put more people in boats and let them just paddle in an hour but we didn't teach them to paddle. It was Toddler Tuesday at Discovery Green.

We loved coming to this meetup. Our kids cheered their father on as he paddled, and it was a lovely family memory. We will definitely come to one of the Sundays with our little ones so they can paddle, too. So so nice!

Word has it this will be a very busy event with lots of people. Anyone that wants to volunteer to help get people in and out of boats or help with getting PFD on correctly and you have your own PFD ( so you don't look like a paddler) please come early. We will be stating at 6 tonight to handle the large group that is expected. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Even if you don't have your own PFD you can volunteer! :)
