For more than 10 years, I've walked my dogs in Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park and the greenbelts upstream and downstream of it. I've seen the creek in all seasons and all conditions. I've always managed to find beauty and tranquility somewhere on each of those hikes. I want to make sure that experience is available to more people in more places along the creek more often. Restoring habitat along the creek to more nearly natural conditions will make that happen.
I can do all three, but deep down in my heart, I'm a ripper. I feel a special joy when I hold the intact root system of an invasive tree up for all to see. Wicked joy!
I relax by walking in the woods. Wherever I do, I want to experience the local ecology. All along Walnut Creek, ligustrum and other invasive plants are forming dense thickets that support little else. I'm working to change that. Join me, won't you?
Fantastic group! Everyone has the right kind of interest to make this group work well. I'm looking forward to working together to keep the greenspaces of Walnut Creek as wild as possible.
