"There's a little nook down our old Hampstead Town
You know the place it has won great renown
Do ,do come and have a drink or two
Down at The Old Bull &Bush Bush Bush"
Says Florrie Ford, the famous Victorian and Australian music hall singer.Let's follow in her footsteps and meet for a drink at this ancient (has been there since 1721) but modernised pub.The pub was a haunt for artists and literary scholars including the famous artist William Hogarth who is said to have planted by his own hand the yew bower in the garden.
Reservations cannot be made ,so I will be there early. If the weather is bright and sunny ,a table outside will be waiting for you.On the other hand,if it is grey or rainy,I will try to secure the little nook that is the small corner alcove or recess in the pub.The pub is very popular with locals and visitors,so please do not be disappointed if it takes you some time to find Jessie with the red rose.I will be there.
After we have a drink or two ,we will cross the road ,to listen to SIR THOMAS ALLEN in Conversation with Edward Seckerson
