Let's try this again! Sorry it didn't work out last time. This is a 4 mile hike close to Sandy Point State Park. It is called the Corcoran Trail. I have not walked it before but it is supposed to be nice and especially good for bird watching.
We will meet at the Sandy Point State Park Headquarters building and all go to the trail head from there. Coming East from Annapolis, take the Sandy Point State Park exit, go left over the overpass and continue straight across the road that leads to the entrance of Sandy Point State Park (do not turn right and head to the entrance of the park). The Headquarters Building is located on the left a short way down the road. We will park our cars at the Headquarters building and take one car to the trail head which is located off of Tydings Road not far from the Park.
The Corcoran Environmental Study Area is a largely wooded, 206 acre tract of land administered by the MD Park Service. There is an approximate 4 mile nature trail through the wooded area which consists of 12 sections displaying different forest characteristics. The path will be flat and the hike will be easy. There is no charge for hiking this trail.
There is a $3.00 per vehicle charge for entering Sandy Point State Park. There are picnic areas at the Park and we will have lunch at one of the picnic areas. Please bring your own lunch!
There are no bathroom facilities at the Park Headquarters or on the Cocoran Woods Trail. Please stop at a convenience shop, like the Wawa on route 50 before the hike. There are facilities inside Sandy State Park.
