PADDLE THROUGH EMERSON PRESERVE TO A LAGOON

  • Apr 27, 2014 · 9:00 AM
  • This location is no longer available

I closed the RSVP's at 6 kayakers, If you want to join us please call me at (407) 463-6489.       If we have a small group, we will meet in the second parking lot exactly 6/10 of a mile from the entrance and launch from the wooden dock. If we have a larger group (you will not see us at the 2nd parking lot), then we will meet at the boat launch at the end of the road. The Blue way trail meanders through mangrove tunnels until you reach Terra Ceia Bay. We will then paddle the bay until we get to a special lagoon. After sitting still for a while and hopefully, watching the magnificent birds & enjoy the silence, Kerry will guide us into another tunnel that leads to a hidden lagoon and birding area. Emerson point preserve has a special location at the mouth of the manatee river where it meets lower Tampa bay. Located on Sneed island in palmetto, fl. this 300+ acre preserve is a coastal paradise, and features the area's largest Native American temple mound. Entrance into Emerson point preserve is free to the public. After our paddle, we will drive over to Woody's River Roo for food and drink.

FOR A COMFORTABLE SMALL GROUP, WE ARE LIMITING RENTALS TO ONLY THE FIRST 11 MEMBERS THAT PAY AND CALL KERRY.

TIME: On Kayak Dayz trips we enjoy the natural environment, we are not a tour service looking to get back and take out another group. We care very much about tide direction, tide height, wind speed, wind direction. We do not care about time and many members do not wear a watch, we estimate time by the sun, moon, stars, birds. Kerry navigates by the trees and landmarks not a GPS.(All times are +/- 90 minutes depending on wind, tide, paddle speed, how long it takes you to take a picture. You are kayaking so leave your watch at home, cancel your appointments, tell the baby sitter you will be home late, RELAX and enjoy the day on the water looking at nature with Kayak Dayz. Oh, and find a bathroom before we meet.

THIS TRIP rough estimate we will take about 50 minutes to launch one at a time, paddle 30-60 minutes in calm open water then about 60 minutes in the lagoon, then about 30-60 minutes around the mangroves on the way back to our launch site.

Kerry, Very sorry to cancel last minute on you and the group. We have had a major plumbing leak under our floor which has flooded our kitchen and living room.....
Looking forward to meeting you on the next trip.
