Hike with Picnic

We checked the tables and grills on 10/12/13 and there were plenty available.

When we meet at Wallenberg, we  head over to Associated Grocery Store which is less than 2 blocks away. You folks buy your own meat, bread and beverages.  I'll use up to $ 60 of the groups funds to purchase the  condiments, plates, napkins, charcoal and matches and other shared items.

The load will be light if we all carry a portion of the materials

We will go directly to the BBQ area, get the fire going.

The rain date will be the following Saturday.

Feedback requested.

Thanks,

Kevin

And Rad I apologize, Kevin is right. I was having a "blonde" moment. And thanks for the cooking as well. My food was great.

Let's wait until the weather goes up to 57 degrees Farenheit. Then I'll put up another hike. Perhaps the first week of April.

Rad put a huge amount of work into the preparation for the hike. We all appreciate it very much. Everything went smoothly. I'm thinking about having this event every six months and I will continue to schedule them off season.

Can I have your cell number and where is the picnic area? I can be there at 12:30 to 1:00. Is that too late?

    October 22, 2013

    • Kevin

Annelle...my cell number is[masked] 3081. It does not always work in the park. The group meets the regular time at Wallenberg. At 10 45 am we go to Associated to get food and supplies. About 11 45 we walk to the Bbq area. Maybe we get there at 12 30? Rad said he will go earlier to hold a grill and table, get the grill going. If anyone wants to go directly to grill area you could work with Rad.

Do you know about what time the BBQ would start. I was thinking of going on an earlier hike. Does anybody know if there would be a problem with heating Somozas, like a Knish. Thank you

    October 21, 2013

    • Kevin

John...I will guess 11 30 to 12 30 or 1. I would think you can wrap it in foil and it would cook.

    Hi Kevin,
Though it was accidental, it was good to see you on Sunday. Your smiling face is always a welcome 'hello'. Hope to see you soon....perhaps the next time intentionally.

    October 17, 2013

Unfortunately, I have to work today and have to miss it... Looking forward to the photos:-)

Risa...We can do it both methods. Bring your own materials or buy at the last minute at the grocery store.

    October 14, 2013

  • Risa B.

    HI Kevin,
Do you think it might be easier if, instead of stopping and shopping, each person brought her/his own goodies? Just a thought.

I just googled it. Forest Park Fall Festival. There may be no room or tables may be taken. I don't think it will be closed .

    October 3, 2013

    • Kevin

I will move the bbq to two weeks later. I think that the warm weather may still be making the tables too popular.

      October 3, 2013

  • Kevin

John...is there a way to find out? Also I see remember when the govenment shut down in the 90s, they shut down forest park. Lets keep an eye on both topics.

    October 2, 2013

  • John S.

I think there is some kind of kids festival that day. I don't know if this affects us . Same area.

    September 30, 2013

  • Kevin

People take longer than an hour to get groceries home when they live far from the store. I dont think frozen meat goes bad. We can ask for some extra artificial preservatives that one time :)

    August 19, 2013

  • quikglik

At least one thing we won't have to worry about is meat spoiling while we hike to the BBQ.

    August 18, 2013

  • quikglik

I think the grills could still be in demand in October. Maybe November would work better in that regard?

    August 18, 2013

Kevin, the steak-out hike for grills sounds good; and then we can go for steaks at Sizzlers! ;-) Awesome Lol

    July 30, 2013

  • Annelle S.

Sounds like fun but I will bring food from home and hike and stay for BQQ eating my food from home

    July 30, 2013

  • Moe

Kevin I never saw the grills there (yet), but I can help with setup. Also suggestion; Perhaps a few of us can get together in groups and chip in to buy the food.

    July 30, 2013

    • Kevin

Lets have a BbQ steak out hike first. We can check out the area. Then we can go to Sizzler on Metropolitan avenue.
