-Birthday

If time permits, we will teach kids how to do little bit more advanced stuff to wet their appetite.

Update 1:

Here are some links from yesterday:
    - Invent with Python - Al Sweigart: http://inventwithpython.com/
    - Python for Kids (free chapter 4 with Turtle drawing: http://nostarch.com/pythonforki...
    - Cloud9 IDE - write, run, and debug your code online: https://c9.io/

Here's another resource that we did not discuss but you may find helpful. It's an online Python IDE developed by Rice University: http://www.codeskulptor.org/ it has some nice GUI properties that you can take advantage of. Here is an example of a Pong game that I wrote:
http://www.codeskulptor.org/#us... (note that you can see and run the code - you can also modify it and save your changes - if you save it, notice the URL will change to reflect the new code - you can also download the code).

I’d like to mention another resource that’s especially useful for people who have some previous coding experience and want to get up to speed with Python. It’s Mark Pilgrim’s book “Dive Into Python 3″, the full text of which is here:
http://getpython3.com/diveintop... It's downloadable as a .pdf as well.

This was great. My son enjoyed and learned about programming. It is so great that you are doing these sessions. Nice to see everyone there!

I saw you enjoying it as well...the same way as I did. It was son's first time programming. He enjoyed it too! Looking forward to the next one.

Is there an age limit? What's the general age ranges here?

    April 29, 2013

    • Hugo E.

No, not really. On the lower end as long as you believe that you kid can handle it, then you can bring her along. On the upper end it doesn't really matter.
