X + Y + Z = 3D

Low-cost 3D printers are all the rage... as well they should be. They bring a whole new level of creative, design and prototype power to the individual.

We invite the 3D printer owners to bring their printers and show them. Those who want to will get a few minutes to talk about their printers and experiences, pros and cons and what advice they would give.

And of course the wanna-be owners are invited to come see each printer up close and personal. We warn you though, attending may affect your decision about when to spring for a printer!

I had a very good time. It was. very interesting to see the 3d printers up close and personal. The printers were very helpful and did not mind answering to s of questions. Also the Show and Tell was outstanding. It was great to see all the possibilities and potential.

    Sorry gentlemen.
My printer hotbed melted on me last night. I will be spending my time today building a new one. Will not be able to make it this time.

Turns out I can't make it this time. Hopefully there will be another gathering like this in the near future.

I have been working most weekends, but if I can, I will stop by with a Rostock Max. I'll leave the Thing-O-Matic at home.

Well it looks like I will not be able to attend this one after all.

Wish I could be there, but it isn't going to work out this time.

I'm planning on bringing my dual-head Replicator 1 to the meetup.

I'm hoping to move into my apartment next week, which should give me a couple of days to make sure it hasn't fallen apart while I was away for over three months!

Sweet! This one is on my list of candidates for my own 3D printer. How do you like it? How do you feel it compares to the Ultimaker in quality (I know it's not nearly as fast)?

Only had it running for about a week, so not a ton of experience yet. It's extremely rigid so bodes well for accuracy. I don't have any data on comparative quality or speed. Support from MakerGear has been outstanding.

Oh yes! My physics consultant has reminded me that I can't add dimensions unless I multiply them!

I read it as "X axis plus Y axis plus Z axis is 3D", so it made total sense to me!

    • Polymorph

      Nope, they should be multiplied.

I would love to bring my Ultimaker, but I will be out of town that day. Bummer.

I will bring my MendelMax 2.

      Cool! I've only seen pictures.

I'll bring my MendelMax 1.0 (or possibly 1.5 if I get around to the mods).

    *ahem* it's X*Y*Z = 3 dimensions, not x+y+z

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
