Would you like to speak with greater confidence? Would you like to contribute more in group
situations? Or be more comfortable in social situations? Of course! We all would. Do you have a
speech difficulty (like a stammer) or a social anxiety issue (like shyness) which holds you back? The
good news is that there is a new group starting up which is aimed just at people like us...people who
need that little bit of extra support.
More details are available here : http://www.stammering.org/tm.html
I have a stammer. You can view a BBC interview with me talking about it here....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-12327847 But I'm also a public speaker! A contradiction? Not at
all. Fluent speech is just one of the criteria for a public speaker. I have been going to Toastmasters,
and it has helped me enormously. I have gained in self-confidence and self-esteem simply via the
medium of public speaking. I now compete in formal speech contests against people from every walk
of life. (Here is a London level contest I took part in, in May : http://www.trojanspeakers.co.uk ) So, if
you want to learn to speak with greater confidence, but have always been very nervous about doing
it, then here's an opportunity. Someone once said that we can only grow by facing our fears. And
when we are helped and supported along the way by like-minded people, the path we walk on
becomes so much easier, enjoyable and exhilirating. So, let's make the new year one where we really
propel our personal growth and development. If you have a stammer or a social anxiety issue, and if
you think this group can help, pls feel free to contact me!
