Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day and Bonfire Night, is an annual commemoration observed on 5 November, primarily in Great Britain. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605, when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was caught guarding explosives placed beneath the House of Lords and arrested. Celebrating the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London, and months later the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot's failure.
We will gather to The Anglers in Teddington to see their spectacular professionally organised fireworks show. Last year 1500 people came to see the display.
The Anglers does not accept table reservations for that day but Sanjay has managed to get us a snug area opposite the bar. Please be prepared for waiting time if you order food. Also they have barbecue, hot drinks and snacks outside in the pub garden. If you are going to have a dinner please be there to place your order in time and if you are ordering drinks it is best to get those yourself from the bar since it's going to be a very busy night.
There will be first music and then fireworks show. This is also a great family event.
Please dress in warm clothes if you want to follow fireworks at the riverside garden where it is the best view to see the show. This is a good opportunity to start using your winter coat :)
Notice that official Guy Fawkes Night is on Monday 5th November but this event is the previous evening.
See more information at: http://www.theanglersteddington.co.uk
You will get there by buses R68, 285 and 281, take off at Teddington Lock and it is just a short walk towards the river.
This is The Anglers' own local event. Part of the income of this evening goes to charity and you will have possibility to donate money for charity collectors.
See you in The Anglers soon.
Regards Heli & Sanjay.
