Guillemot Cove Nature Reserve Hike

This is a nice nature reserve and also one of Kitsap County's best kept secrets! *Some members had difficulty finding the nature reserve, please review the link below! I will email my cell phone number to KSG members who RSVP a day or two in advance of the hike* Plan on getting a little dirty, a little muddy, a little wet, a few nettle stings, a little sweaty and having a lot of fun! This is a moderate/difficult 1 mile(ish) hike down a steady slope to the beach and cabin area. Some of the trails are skirting wetlands and are covered with mud and water (1 to 3 inches) in small sections. The cabin is not accessible, but provides a nice resting area on the deck and it's a great place to eat a snack, rehydrate and take in the wondrous views of Hood Canal! This is also a great beach combing spot too, tides permitting. After the hike we can meet at Seabeck Marina for a coffee/tea at Turies espresso. If you're hungry, you can dine at Barbie's Cafe, grab a slice of Seabeck pizza or shop the Seabeck General Store!

Wear proper foot wear/hiking attire!

Bring water!

Bring snacks to share while we are on the beach!

Insect repellent recommended!

No Bathroom facilities, plan accordingly!

Children under 12 not recommended.

*This meetup will be canceled if there is inclimate weather*

I have room for 3 more if anyone wants to meet me at Safeway in Silverdale. I am quite directionally challenged, but have plugged in the address in my GPS so hopefully will not get lost. According to my GPS is it about 30 minutes so lets meet at 9:30 am and meetup with everyone at the Reserve.

I know nothing about the area, but went to their site. It confused me more, lol. Is it 1 mile around the whole trail, or 1 mile down the straight shot to the beach? I'd love to go beach combing, but not too sure if I'm up to the hike!

Hi Lisa, there is an access road but it is blocked off and is for emergency vehicles only. The road doesn't take you all the way to the beach, you still need to hike in about 1/4 mile and traverse obsticles to get to the water.

    • Lisa W.

Oh, so I can walk 3/4 of the mile on road, then follow a path the remainder 1/4 mile. For some reason I first thought you meant I could drive most of the way down, lol. Well, thanks for all the useful data, Toby... you've been a huge help! :o)

Can a gps locatenand provide directions to the park?

    May 2, 2013

    • Toby M

Your GPS navigation system may not list the nature reserve by name but if you put in "Hood Point Rd NW, Seabeck, WA 98380" it will get you close. The Guillemot Cove Reserve parking area is just before Hood Point road.
