BEACH COMBER’S WALK (Indianola)

Beach comber's Walk at Indainola Beach

Sunday July 13th, 2014, 10:30 AM

We haven't walked the Indianola beach yet, so this will be a new adventure.

Meetup Location: Starbucks Coffee, across from the Poulsbo Walmart. We will car-pool from here.

Join us for a beautiful beach walk and enjoy the sea and sand and discover what treasures you might find.

We will be high and dry on the beach for the entire walk, but bring shoes that can visit the surf if you are so inclined. This is a great beach for wading in the shallow sandy bottom.

The Beach comber’s walks are timed to occur during a lower tide for the best beach area and goodies to find: starfish, agates, cockles, clams, driftwood and one of the most sought after items, Sea Glass. And geological treats washed down from the beachfront bluffs. The great lore and fascination of Beach combing is that you just never know what you will find. And a peaceful summer Sunday walk on a beautiful beach is excellent therapy.

We will be on the beach 3-4 hours, so bring water, snacks, etc.

Don’t forget your cameras and a walking stick is useful for poking at things. I will bring my books on Seashells and other beach life to help identify your finds.

THE BEACH: This beach is mostly sand, with areas of small rocks.

After the walk we can drive down to Suquamish for pizza by the slice?

STINKY WEATHER BACKUP ACTIVITY: If the weather decides to be uncooperative (can’t imagine that happening) we will meet at the same time and location, then drive into Poulsbo or Kingston and spend the day sightseeing, shopping and experiencing the local sites, art shops, cafes and pubs.

I was at the Walmart/Starbucks @ 10:00AM no one there (I know 10:30) just thought someone would be there earlyish, no luck. Thought I was at the wrong one, So went to the other starbucks in Poulsbo, no luck !! #$!!ZZPoo! So drove to the beach, saw the long wooden pier, walked down the stairs looked all around for someone familiar, no luck. Combed the beach a bit, bought a 50 cent apricot (yum) at the little store ate it and left . Ugh, too hot and the sand was kind of yucky. Sorry I missed everyone, IF you were there. :-( Phooey

I am coming from Bainbridge. Where should Luna and I meet you in Indianola and maybe some directions.

    Thank you!

Hi Beach Walkers, I recommend bringing shoes useful for walking in the water: the beach is very level and you will be able to walk out into the water for quite a distance. Or, of course, you may remain high and dry on the upper beach.

    Hi,

Can I bring my spoiled rotten four legged baby?

Fun in the sun and can't wait to visit with Rita!

Four legged babies are just fine with me. I'm always glad to have them around. But this isn't my show so just putting in my 2 cents worth.

I'm in for the beach hike, but if it comes to doing the stinky weather backup instead I will pass on that.
