Beachcomber’s Walk (Eglon Beach)
How can we live on a peninsula and NOT go Beachcombing?
Meetup Location: Starbucks Coffee, across from the Poulsbo Walmart. We will car-pool from here.
Join us for a beautiful beach walk and enjoy the sea and sand and discover what treasures you might find.
This walk will be along Eglon Beach. We will walk north on the beach from the parking lot and then return.
This beach is on the NE side of the Kitsap Peninsula, north of Kingston, with Puget Sound on one side and high cliffs and trees on the other. The scenery is very classic Pacific Northwest.
We will be high and dry on the beach for the entire walk, but bring shoes that can visit the surf if you are so inclined.
This Beachcomber’s walk is timed to occur during a lower (incoming) tide for the best beach area and goodies to find: starfish, agates, cockles, clams, driftwood and one of the most sought after items, Sea Glass. And geological treats washed down from the beachfront bluffs. The great lore and fascination of Beachcombing is that you just never know what you will find. And a peaceful summer walk on a beautiful beach is excellent therapy.
We will be on the beach 3-4 hours, so bring water, snacks, etc.
Don’t forget your cameras and a walking stick is useful for poking at things. I will bring my books on Seashells and other beach life to help identify your finds.
THE BEACH: This beach is mostly sand, with areas of small rocks.
STINKY WEATHER BACKUP ACTIVITY: If the weather decides to be uncooperative (can’t imagine that happening) we will meet at the same time and location, then drive into Poulsbo or Kingston and spend the day sightseeing, shopping and experiencing the local sites, art shops, cafes and pubs.
