Downtown Knoxville

The Harvey Broome Group of the Sierra Club and the Knoxville Greenway Walkers are offering a three-mile loop hike (about 2 hours), using Second Creek Greenway, Neyland Greenway, James White Greenway, and downtown Knoxville streets. We'll see World's Fair Park, the Knoxville waterfront at Volunteer Landing, then return to World's Fair Park via the streets of downtown Knoxville. Meet 1:30 PM at the free public parking area on the north side of the Knoxville Museum of Art. The hike route is all paved, and offers an exposure to a few of the many attractions to the city. Sorry, no dogs, please.

Ron passed on some historical information that was new to me, and it's amazing how many historical placards we found along the way. I found out that President George Washington himself appointed William Blount governor of the newly created Southwest Territory In May 1790. The people and the walk was pleasant and enjoyable. kudos

The weather downtown was breezy, the sun strong, and this great cultural town was hopping. We passed a group wearing badges that said Food Tour, and we almost lost a few walkers to them. Market square was hopping in the late afternoon. The restaurants were full and musicians were living out loud and accepting the donations being offered.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
