This group is about being on the water. This club is a collection of individuals who share a common interest in paddling, watercraft on the rivers, and lakes. The purpose of the club is to provide a framework in which individuals have the opportunity to meet other paddlers and sailors, share experiences, gain knowledge, organize trips, and cooperatively support causes that result in river preservation, restoration, access and general conservation issues. We have experienced and non-experienced paddlers from the East Tennessee area. The club offers many different types of activities from casual lake paddling to extended lake tripping, easy whitewater to extreme, and the opportunity to join others on river trips. The club offers trips at all skill levels from beginner to expert. Typical rivers paddled by our group are The Clinch River, Tennessee River, Little River, Fort Loudon Lake, Panther Creek Park on Cherokee Lake, the Ocoee River, and the Nantahala. We have a few members with sail boats that would like to get other people interested in the sport. If you have had some paddling instruction and you would like to be taken down new rivers and lakes please join us.
All boats are welcome open canoeing, kayakers, sea kayakers, inflatable boats, and rafters. We also welcome sail boats from small to large.
Once we have been well established we will have some meetings featuring canoeing, videos, slide shows, and discussions.
We are dedicated to the advancement and enjoyment of canoeing, kayaking, paddle sports, and sailing.
We do not offer rentals, competitive events, or organized instructions.
Safety: Paddling at any level is a risky sport. Each individual is ultimately responsible for his or her own safety. Each individual is responsible for having appropriate equipment, for having the requisite skills for padding/sailing a given river or lake, and for the decision to run any river rapid or body of water. Although ultimate responsibility rests with the individual, important safety benefits are gained from paddling with a group of other prepared and competent paddlers.
