VCK training

Anyone wanting to do a longer paddle is welcome to join

With 10 weeks to go before the big day! i figure it is time to hit the middle section of the course.
So we will meet at Lotterdale recreation area 7am Sat. Feb 23
(3998 Jackson Cemetery Rd, Greenback, TN 37742)
There is a parking area and a launch. This will be the TAKE OUT.
We will shuttle boats/ people to the put in at the cove at Concord park (11808 S. Northshore Drive 37922)
This way when you get done you don't have to wait. And if you are taking your time you won't feel pushed.
This is all about preparing yourself and having fun.
The current should be very Little in this section (1 mph or so)
This will be more than 20 but should not be more than 30 miles. thus the early start. It's 45 min. drive from take-out to put in. The first 28 mile section i did in 7 hours so make sure you plan accordingly.
food/ water/ dry clothes/ flashlight....whatever else you would like :)

this section is just at 20 miles. good flat water no real current to effect or help you. many beautiful vistas. easy to navigate but one could end up deep in to one of the few coves causing a big time delay if racing.

I just found this site. I use to race very serious flat water in '98 before my illness. I am now focused on flat water racing this year. I've registered for the 11 mile race June 22 at the Ohio Paddlefest. Please tell me more about this race. I live in Somerset, KY and will travel for long distance paddling and training with racers. Please send additional info to [masked] Susan
