Glad to see the activity picking up! Spring is near and everyone is itching to get out! With the weather as crazy as it is, this trip should be able to happen no matter what Mother Mature wants to do (this is not a challenge to you M.N.!)
Well this one will get you underground. Indian Cave in Blaine,Tn. The tour takes about 2 hours and cost $10 per person.
Indian Cave is one of dozens of Indian Caves in the USA. Many caves were used by the American natives, and so many got this name. This cave was used by the Indians for more than 5000 years, numerous remains were excavated proofing this. In 1983 the remains of a human skeleton were discovered and examined by the University of Tennessee. They were dated to be 3000 years old.
If you want to carpool you can meet at Knoxville Center Mall at 10:30 am and carpool to Blaine. Maybe a twenty minute drive or so to Indian Cave.
I couldn't find info on the average temp inside the cave but i would guess it to be chilly. I recommend dressing in layers and bring a flashlight or headlamp as not all of the cave is illuminated. Also a water or whatever you may feel you need. It is around a 3 mile round trip walk on a mostly level surface so no crawling or tight squeezes!
If you are not carpooling just meet us up there around 11:00 AM
I tried to contact them about a group rate but was unable to get anyone on the phone.
