Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the area. When is the 6 mile race? I may be last, but I finish what I start! :)

Wes is a great guy and we're lucky to have him as a paddler in our area.

Wes, words fail me...;) I think I can find it now...

In an attempt to help with directions (Charles let me know if this is wrong)
If you go to Google maps, mapquest or your GPS and type in the coordinates [masked],[masked] it should take you to the right spot.
The motorcycle shop is across the street from a boat ramp, but that is the Tallassee boat ramp. If you find yourself there, make a RIGHT out of the Motorcycle shop and about 1.8 miles on your LEFT will be the Harrison Branch boat ramp.

O.k. I understand that I take 129 to the dragon but the pin looks like it is a motorcycle shop or an office? I did go to Chilhowee lake last year but am unsure where the put in is...Sorry, but I am directionally impaired...

    April 19, 2014

    • Wes

i will be passing by there on the way if i see you i will get you!

I love this area. Have paddled lake and Citico creek several times. I have an inexpensive Fusion 124 Future beach (from Dicks). Is this OK for this trip?

    April 14, 2014

    • Charles

Yes, your fusion will be fine. Come on out!

I have a 10 Elle Sound. It has a keel ( v shaped hull). Would this be o.k. For this? I am not sure where this is. I don't see a web link?

    • Charles

      Yes

Click on "Harrison Branch Rec Area" above for map.

The pin on the map on this website shows us about 2 miles past the put-in spot. The if you can see the Chilhowee Dam. Your at the wrong launch. Get in your car and drive downstream:) you'll see the next launch on the left before going in to the woods on hwy 129.

    How long will it be?

    January 16, 2014

    • Charles

As long or short as you want Chris. We will do a clover leaf to three locations. Ranging 2, 4, and 6 miles. After that 12 miles we can do more if you want.

      January 17, 2014

  • Wes

Charles, if needed, i will be available to escort anyone who might need to return early.

    1 · January 17, 2014

Wes that will be great, thank you!

One more thing. We will have Dale Stewart and myself instructing this. We both love what we do and we started out just like everyone else. Dale has covered more than 50,000 miles with a paddle in his hand and recently did 1,200 miles from Knoxville to Ft. Smith. The Trail of Tears water tour. You don't get a chance to learn from someone like that often. I'm very great full that he is willing to help us out. My experience with long distance is more of the ultra races. KC to St. Louis in 66 hours. KC to Jefferson City in 35 hours. That's a 340 mile paddle and a 225 mile paddle. We both are very happy to paddle with you all and see you all there.

I don't own a rec/touring boat just a WW kayak. Is there a rental for that?

    1 · January 16, 2014

    • Charles

Deborah, we can rent you a touring boat through River Sports Outfitters. I'll post the number on here soon.

      1 · January 16, 2014

  • Charles

As long as you want to go Chris. We will be doing 2 mile, 3, mile and then a 6 mile clover leaf pattern. Each time we come back next to the put in point just in case a paddler wants out or wants to take a break!

    1 · January 16, 2014

  • Charles

This is free! If you don't own gear, River Sports can Rent to you!
