****UPDATE***(time to FEED THE PIG!!!) WE MADE IT!!!!

*******UPDATE******

THANKS TO ALL THAT HELPED!!! Ben has informed me that we have reached the goal for fund-raising and we will be able to enjoy the site for another year! WAY TO GO! We will make this an annual event in order to keep the costs shared among the group. If you did not yet give you still can throughout the year. Ben is great at keeping notes on who contributed and whatever we have left will go towards next year. We understand not everyone has the ability to contribute, but every dollar counts and we are glad for every one that was sent them in to help keep the group on the water!

If you have participated in the meet-up group you know how much fun it is. We strive to enjoy the outdoors while being mindful of safety, individual experience, the environment and others in it. We try to plan trips that involve many activities at various times of the week and encourage suggestions and ideas from everyone. From camping, clean-ups and bike rides to paddling hiking and dancing to name a few. Anyone that uses the sight even occasionally has reaped it's benefits. Maybe you stumbled upon a new interest, a new friend or discovered a new part of the state you never knew was there all because you signed up and got out there. Well you all can thank Ben Hicks for this group in particular. In 2010 Ben threw his own money at this meet-up thing and now it has over 500 members! Speaking of money. Ben has over the years received a few dollars here and there to help with the cost but by far he has absorbed most of the financial responsibility himself. Never requiring any money for anything. Some of you may not know that it costs $144 per year to have the meet-up site. If every member paid $1 the site would be covered for almost 3.5 years!! Well, we all know that is unlikely. However if a few of us kick in $5 or $10 we can keep the group going with out Ben getting stuck with the tab. **HERES THE DEAL***

The sight will continue until September on what Ben has already paid. If we can raise enough money to pay for the sight for the next 12 months (or more!) it will continue as usual. If we do not reach our goal of $144 the sight will be closed. It is in our best interest to keep the sight going so give a dollar, give $20 or $5. If you find value in K.O.T.W. and want to continue enjoying all the things it offers than please pay through the sight or message Benny directly. He will be keeping track of amounts and if we make more than needed it will roll over into the next year. No money is made from this site by any group member. This charge is through the meet-up web hosting and you can look up the cost for the site yourself on meet-up home page. When we do make the goal we will schedule some kind of celebration outing! Paddle or camping weekend?

Not all of us. I'll probably do some flat water paddling Monday. Just haven't decided where yet.

I went to the 4th paddle as our first outing but only got to meet a couple people. Next time we are out, I need giant name tags on everyone and I'll be happy to throw a few dollars in the pot.

this was not a typical paddle due to the activity. had it been a normal paddle we would have been more organized, waited for everyone, introductions, safty and the like. hope to see you again!

Is there a way to pay more than $1 with the paypal link on the meetup.com site? I can't seem to figure it out.

    • Ben

Yes. Email for details or pay me, Wes, or Forrest in person. Only 12 dollars short.

THANK YOU!! For everyone who has already given a couple of bucks or more to help keep the site going. We have passed the half way point and with the help of just a few more of you, we will be able to ride this thing out for another year! Please help if you can.

I have never received a membership card. Do they really exist? If so, where do I get one?
