Hi, my name is Gary but my friends call me Wookie. I've been running rivers since I was a kid. I even did a couple of summers guiding rafts down on the Ocoee. Due to a back injury, I've spent too many years off the water. Just getting back into it.
17' Old Town Tripper canoe, LiquidLogic XP-10 Remix kayak, two sit on top kayaks and I hope to soon buy a Hobby Cat Tandum Island for Connie and me to enjoy. She says she also wants an XP-9 in pink. Maybe for Christmas if she's good. Lol ! Update : No XP-9 for Connie this year. She was good but we're heading to Alaska for the Summer of 2014 and Kauai for the Fall. Her Remix is going to have to wait.
expert canoe, intermediate kayak ( Before my back injury I was better at kayaking. Just can't lean foward or snap my hips to roll the way I use to. ) and, beginner sail.
All kinds but mostly local rivers and lakes. At one time I did a lot of whitewater. As I said in the into, I even guided rafts for a couple of summers on the Ocoee but these days, due to a back injury, class II and III is about all I'm up for. I hope to get into sea kayaking in the next couple of years. I did a canoe trip down the Florida Keys when I was in my 20s' and it was a blast snorkeling and spear fishing. I'm saving up for a Hobby Cat Tandum Island. I'd thought about putting a sail on my canoe untill I saw the Hobby Cat TI. With all the bells and whistles it looks to be the perfect boat for touring. I love to camp,...mostly RV but touring trips down easy rivers, on a big lake or island hopping just off the coast in the Hobbie Cat sounds like a lot of fun. Once we have the TI, Connie and I are planning trips to the SanJuan Islands in Washington state, the Apostle Islands and kayaking with friends who have a house and kayaks up near Acadia Nat. Park.
Hybrid, I like riding Cades Cove, the Greenbelt in Maryville and I love those big down hill rides like the Va. Creeper Trail.
A great bunch of people. Hope I can walk on monday for the Hiwassee. OK, I not only was able to walk but I had a great time. What a perfect day on the river. Tomorrow I won't be able to walk. Who am I kidding... I can hardly move now. Good people, good times. Thanks everybody. I could not have done it without ya.

Awesome meeting you today maybe we can paddle sometime!
Hello Gary! Thanks for joining our group. The Paleo/Primal movement is huge in the more metropolitan areas of our country, but not so much in TN. To learn more about it I would suggest checking out www.marksdailyapple.com. It isn't so much about living in a cave as it is eating/moving/living according to our genetic blueprint...the way we have been eating for millions of years and only within the past few hundred years, especially the past 60 years, have we been eating man made processed foods.
Hi Gary ....Same here woiuld love to find some easier hikes to build my confidence back. I'm trying to get in better shape for summer so I can hike more. My goal is to get to the fire tower on Cammerer by May and would love to have company along the way .... to build up strenght and endurance. Hope to see you on the shorter hikes
