I'm thinking about a couple of campout trips. One would be over to Santeetlah Lake, camping just outside Joyce Kilmer Mem. Forest. These are some of the biggest trees in the eastern US. Some have been growing since Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 AD. I'd like to plan it during warm weather and a full moon so we could do some moonlight canoeing on the lake. For this trip we would need to try to get our camping reservations in early because the sites on the lake go pretty quick. Of course, I don't need to tell you whitewater people about the rivers near the lake. The second trip would be down in eastern North Carolina to look for the oldest single tree in the eastern US. This tree has been dated to the year 390AD. The location of this tree is a secret but I have a friend who is a native plant specialist who knows the location and is willing to guide us. Because this one is in a more swampy area, it's best to do this trip in cooler weather. Would anyone be up for either of these trips?

I would be interested in either and or both of these trips. I just bought a boat and can't wait to get it in the water.

I have done several trips in The Joyce Kilmer kayaking and backpacking but I have never been to the other area.
