American Thanksgiving

  • Top Floor Flat - ring for WELSH

It is traditional for American's to celebrate their first harvest in the New Land on the last Thursday of November with a Thanksgiving feast. This year, we would like to invite you to join us in a gathering of traditional food and fun.

Many families participate in a "potluck" style meal, where everyone brings a dish to share. We would like this meal to follow the same pattern. If you would like to join, please let us know what dish you would like to bring below.

The event will be hosted in my friend's flat in Nippes. She will purchase and cook the turkey and I will make pumpkin pies. Last year, we had a wonderful group of people and hope you will join us!

Please sign up for an item to bring; I have updated this list based on your comments.  Please let me know if I missed anyone:

(3 ppl - Jakob; Isabell) turkey (help pay for it; don't bring anything)
(1) veggie meat
(1 - JD) mashed potatoes

(1 - Des) stuffing
(1- Kelsey possibly) sweet potatoes

(1- Cayla) macaroni and cheese

(2 ppl) drinks (non-alcoholic)
(2 ppl - Nico/Beer; Kevin/2 Wine) drinks (alcoholic)
(1- Des) paper plates & glasses
(1 -Des) cutlery (fork, knives) & napkins (serviette)

We hope to see you!

Louisa and Des

    Hi Louisa,

Thanks for your hard work for organizing this Thanksgiving Feast. We can't wait to meet everyone and to taste the food. I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time. Oh, by the way, what is our contribution for the turkey? Again, thank you.

I had to close the RSVPs, because we have more people than anticipated and I'm worried about the food amount. If you are bringing more than yourself, please bring along some extra goodies to share. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!

    Hi Y'all,

This Thanksgiving should be quite interesting. We will have around 35-40 people attending. My mates flat has plenty of space, but it should still be cozy. If you are bringing food, think about bringing enough for 6-8 people. I'm sure there will be enough, but I am afraid that we will run out. If you are bringing drinks, please do the same. I think we will have about 8 bottles of wine, some beer, and fizzy drinks. If you like a special drink, you might want to bring it. Should you get lost, please feel free to call me on my handy at[masked] 4488.

    Cheers,
    Louisa

The wine would be great, but we have quite a few desserts. Would you mind bring some broetchen rolls? About 20?

So who's bringing mashed soda? What about the potato cakes and where are the cups? Is everyone confused or is it just Louisa?

Or I can chip in on the turkey.
Just let me know which you prefer.

I wasn't clear -there will be smokers, but no smoking in the house.

      November 20, 2012

Great! Sorry, I had forgot to ask if there would be smokers in your apartment. No offence. I personally don't smoke and am allergic to smoke. Thanks.

My friend is not a smoker, but there might be smoker's that attend. I can't ban anyone. Of course, there would not be any smoking in the house. She has two living room areas, so this should be manageable.
