*FIRE* CHICKEN ... AGAIN!

Time once again to get the buldak (yes this dish has been mentioned and therefore approved by Jonathan Gold) or what perhaps should be better known as - and this is the literal translation of the Korean - Fire Chicken.

This place is on Serrano Ave. That's the name of a hot chile. That's your clue.

As far as I know, this is the only place in all of Koreatown that can provide heat at the level of - say - Jitlada - e.g. a Thai Spicy sort of heat.

Last time we ordered it we asked for (well more like they insisted we start at) a 6 on a scale of 10. It was just fine and probably you wouldn't want it any hotter (but we could - that's up to group majority vote).

But it's not all about the heat - the spicy chicken comes on a bed of crispy rice and that makes the dish really good!

Family style - all food costs are shared except everyone is responsible for paying for their drink orders. They have beer in-house or you can bring your own bottle of wine to share.

Other food potentials are hot wings, dakdoritang (chicken potato stew), tong dak (fried or broiled chicken) beer can chicken, yes do you see a chicken theme here, but let's try to stick with mostly the fire chicken.

If you need more fast-foody sort of chicken there's Kyochon just a block or two away to the north, or if you can't take seriously spicy heat this is NOT the meetup for you.

We will be dining family style so this event is not for you if you don't prefer sharing food. Please bring cash to simplify bill paying.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks to Diana and Duncan for helping me throw the trash into the trash bin before we left Spoon by H. last night. Some people left in a hurry, leaving the trash on the table for someone else to throw away. Since we don't/didn't tip them to clean up after us, and even if we had, since we're going back there, I think it was important to show them our appreciation and show them that we have good manners.

    Hi Everyone! :)
This is a message for those who rsvp'd YES to tonight's event!!

You're in for a treat!! Jonathan Gold's highly-recommended Korean Chicken Place serves bombdigity good food!! :) I just made a reservation for 8 seats for tonight at 7 p.m. This is a VERY popular place, and they don't want to hold tables. SO, YOU MUST BE ON TIME!!!!!

Even if you are running 2 minutes late, you must notify us by writing it on the wall of the Meetup Group's Event Page!!! Please don't tell us you got caught in traffic, or you had to work late. There is another person on the wait list, so I'm sure he'd appreciate a seat. And, you don't want to be rude and have 7 people waiting around for you. Or, get the owner giving us the stink eye for holding up a table.

A heads up about the parking!!! It's not good! lol... Parking is at a premium at this place. Valet Park, or self-park on the street at the meters. I highly recommend that you allot AT LEAST 20 minutes to search for street parking and to walk to the restaurant, or to even valet park. This neighborhood gets very, very crowded on Friday nights, and so does this restaurant. For example, I was there last Friday night without a reservation at 7 p.m.,and I was told that they were not accepting anymore orders if you weren't already seated!! Yikes!! WE DEFINITELY WANT TO BE ABLE TO EAT TONIGHT!!! :)

A little bird told me that there is no corkage fee. So, bring something suitable for spicy foods if you like.

The hot sauce has a range. It all depends how much fire you want in your mouth.
