The Dragon

Korean Chinese food is something where I want to try every place that serves it.

The Dragon has been around a long time and it looks like a nice place.

This is a family style event so all food costs are shared whether you eat the food or not.

We will sample all 4 pillars of this cuisine:

jjambbong       Spicy seafood soup (pictured below)

jjajangmyun     Noodles with black bean sauce (pictured below)

tangsooyook    Sweet and sour crispy Pork (Yelpers say Beef is more tender)

kkanpoongi      Sweet and spicy fried chicken chunks

Every dish was my favorite, especially the spicy noodle soup! Service and company was good too, and the price was right!

Keong, Young King is one of the best Koreanized Chinese restos in Ktown! They're not cheap tho. There's also a place inside Rodeo Galleria that makes all 3 items listed above and that's all they make (with jjajjangmyun over rice option). Their sweet n sour is the best I've had. Pork is juicy and not hard like many places. At Young King, this can be a hit n miss dish. YK also had a great fried shrimp in spicy garlic sauce dish!

I'm dying to try the one in the plaza galleria (it's either the same mall as the rodeo galleria or one block south, I call it the plaza because it has the plaza market in it which may have been renamed to galleria by now, yes this is confusing). There are other koreanized chinese restos that pop up in the malls and supermarkets around town all the time, such as the one in the mall to the north of the BCD on Western, for example. It's going to be hard to try them all.

The one at Rodeo Galleria is also very cheap but closes early.

I won't get done with work in time to make this. Tuesday evenings are bad for me!

Maybe also consider the chowma mein (hot and spicy noodles), dry string beans with hot sauce or hot bean curd

some people would find those fightin' words, thinking of feng mao or myung dong kjoja but in any case I'm ordering yahng jahng pee for sure, the dumplings aren't set in stone

Note to self: order the yahng jahng pee (mixed up julienned vegetables with jellyfish, cold marinated pork, egg, and krab in a vinegary mustard sauce), try not to snicker.
