Half-Day Intensive: Beginners 3

  • Oct 28, 2012 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Many events are taking place in town on the 2nd weekend in October. And many want to attend them. So to accommodate your schedule, we are rescheduling our workshop to a less busy weekend.

Two of the events are posted on our calendar, so check them out. :D

Details of Our Workshop Day

3-hour Intensive for Beginners Korean 3

  • This class is for those who know Hangeul, can exchange simple greetings (안녕하세요, 안녕히 계세요, 안녕히 가세요, 고맙습니다. 미안합니다. 실례합니다 and responses to them), and heard of the basics of Korean sentence structure (SOV & markers). This class is not for "absolute beginners."
  • If you attended Full-Day Beginners Intensive in September, this workshop is for you.
  • If you've finished my 6-Week Beginners Boot Camp, this is a great opportunity for you to review and get some practice in.

You will be introduced to a few bullet points like:

+ Formal Tone of Speech (aka "manly" speech, professional speech, academic speech)
+ Basics of Korean verb conjugation
+ Basic Honorifics
+ Basic conversation: Talking about yourself and "interviewing" each other
+ Locations, Direction, and Numbers as necessary
+ Other expressions you would like to learn

This is an actual 4-week course jammed into 3 hours. So we are focusing on getting a "big picture" that will help your future studies. At times we will slow down to practice some important things; other times we will push forward and get the general idea.

* Approximate. Please allow +/- 10 minutes.

7 chapters jammed in 4.5 hours. Everyone did really, impressively well. I hope this "big picture" and the tools given to you will be helpful. I will try and offer a similar workshop for next level - so until then, keep on studying and having fun doing it! You know how to find me if you have a question! :D

You did not know it, but I do stand up comedy on the side and I am in the 11thAnnual OC's Funniest Person Contest at the Encore Dinner Theater in Tustin on Wed, November 7th, at 8PM. Here is a link:
It would be great to have some support from the meetup folks at this, or if you secretly hate me, come on by and heckle me while I am on stage. Either way, it's a win-win.

@Genie, I already looked them through. Otherwise, I wouldn't be asking. We also have a policy about being an event host; you are good. :)

I know you said you'd go; but hosting an event takes a little bit of work too; after all, event host is responsible for everything that will happen before, at, and after the event. It takes more than just showing up at the venue; hence I need to make certain you can commit to extra work, disclosure of your phone numbers, and providing answers when others ask. Of course I (and/or other organizers if they can) will help you too.

At this point, I think it's best that we do not talk on this thread. Erica and John must be getting quite a lot of notifications that do not concern them. (Erica, John - my apology.)

Let's talk tomorrow after the workshop.

@zeanie, yeah, i thought when you see it that i sent you a message, you'd check my e-mail and reply back from my e-mail, but it kept going on?! I thought maybe because it was the easiest for you. @everyone Sorry for the people who kept getting the notices for this thread. Our apologies, everyone.
