What sparked your interest in Korean language and culture?

I grew up in the very diverse city of Long Beach, and always had friends who spoke languages from all over the world. I also love learning about new cultures, and learning new languages. Recently, a Korean friend told me that the Hangul alphabet is very simple to learn and dared me to try. I am proud to say I have a pretty sturdy grasp of it, but I usually have no idea what I'm actually saying! I would like to improve on that!

What level of Korean language do you speak? Are you currently learning and/or practicing? If you are a native speaker, please e-mail the Organizer to volunteer to help others learn. Thank you!

I speak little to no Korean, but am interested in learning it.

What would you like to gain from this group? Things to do? Places to go? We organize events around your interests and suggestions.

I am very creative and am a design major. I love making friends and meeting new people, going on adventures, and trying new things. I'm social and outgoing, but not loud and talkative, I'm actually pretty reserved. People think I'm shy but that's not the case at all! I want to be a lighting, furniture, or jewelry designer. I have internships and am halfway done with school! One thing no one would guess about me is I used to want to be a car designer! (I still do, but maybe I'll just dabble on the side if the opportunity arises, the automotive designers and industry are too insane for me!)

Have you ever visited Korea and how did you like it?

No, but I plan to next summer!

I am a local student who is interested in learning Korean. Next summer I plan to travel to Korea through study abroad to learn a lot more about the Korean Language and Culture than any College class could teach me. I love design, friends, & fun!
