I'm not sure if anyone is experienced enough to answer this, but I'd like to know if there are any pieces of scala language which is not well designed like static in Java for example. Or are parts in scala which are tricky and have any pitfalls, hard to use? Let say: 'My nightmares about Scala' :)

I'd suggest moving such discussions to our mailing list instead of comments :-) https://groups.google.... yes, there are pitfals (Int vs. Java autoboxing surprises) :-)

yes, Akka rulez! Workshops are welcomed. Especially to see the legendary scalability of multi-actors processing in cluster. I'm on 2.9 and using old fashion scala actors so I'm not sure if there is any way to spread them in distributed env

If you will need any help with preparing next ScalaCamps then I would be happy to do something.
For example I was thinking about presentation showing how to build simple massive multiplier game using Play!, Akka, websockets, CoffieScript and HTML5.
If there would be any interest in that then we can talk about details ;)

cool but it's not too wide? HTML 5 is big enough for me. It is not only css but what you said - web sockets and other JS interpreter's improvements. how guys will follow you or you want to say us 'I'm damned good and hail to me babe' :D

Actually, we missed implementing one ??? during my presentation, and the "quickfix" because of the mongo update worked ;-) Anyway, thanks a lot for coming! Oh and by the way, this is what ScalaTest output looks like: https://www.evernote.com/shard/s9/sh/f72e8865-af73-40a2-9aa6-058647bbd30f/4ce0bce04437d5e3edd387ca41ca5968/res/0bfd9721-fd7d-4dcf-bd37-0a7c32828396/skitch.png?resizeSmall&width=832 Sources available at: https://github.com/ktoso/dissecting-rogue-scala-presentation/tree/all-implemented See you next time! Videos coming soon...

I oczywiście potrzebujesz mieć mongo na maszynie

      January 24, 2013

    • Konrad M.

Right, I've added a readme file: https://github.com/kto... You have to point this setting to an existing mongodb installation - the tests use a real mongodb instance.

I'm not java person and it was okay ;)
Last two talks were a bit messy but surely still good enough.
I really hope that group won't loose traction after such a nice start.

    2 · January 23, 2013

  • Krzysztof R.

I was nice. A little boring for non-Java people...

    2 · January 23, 2013

    Cool! :)
