Last Christmas, the K4K group got together and did Karaoke Christmas Caroling at local nursing homes. It was quite a heartwarming experience.
One of the things I heard from the nursing staff is that everyone comes to visit the nursing homes at Christmas, but forget about these wonderful people the rest of the year. They all asked if we would be willing to come back again just to sing to the residents.
So were going to do a Summer Songfest for Seniors. Each person can do a couple of songs as a solo, duet, trio, etc. or perform background vocals for each other. The songs should be from the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's or Broadway, jazz, crooning tunes, etc.; songs that the seniors would remember and enjoy hearing.
I would like for each person to sing 2 songs, but since the participants at each event could change, please be prepared to sing 4-5. Please email me with the name of the songs and artists, if known ASAP.
There will be 2 practices at my house and then the nursing home visits will be from mid-June to mid-July.
I want to make sure that everyone understands – WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL SINGERS!! If you make a mistake, it’s okay. These people just love having us; regardless of how we sounds. As long as you sing with enthusiasm and have fun with it, that is all I ask and all they want. I do not want to hear anyone complain about how the group did or how one person did, etc. SHOW SOME LOVE!! Okay???
