Summer Songfest Practice

Last Christmas, the K4K group got together and did Karaoke Christmas Caroling at local nursing homes. It was quite a heartwarming experience.

One of the things I heard from the nursing staff is that everyone comes to visit the nursing homes at Christmas, but forget about these wonderful people the rest of the year. They all asked if we would be willing to come back again just to sing to the residents.

So were going to do a Summer Songfest for Seniors. Each person can do a couple of songs as a solo, duet, trio, etc. or perform background vocals for each other. The songs should be from the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's or Broadway, jazz, crooning tunes, etc.; songs that the seniors would remember and enjoy hearing.

I would like for each person to sing 2 songs, but since the participants at each event could change, please be prepared to sing 4-5. Please email me with the name of the songs and artists, if known ASAP.

There will be 2 practices at my house and then the nursing home visits will be from mid-June to mid-July.

I want to make sure that everyone understands – WE ARE NOT PROFESSIONAL SINGERS!! If you make a mistake, it’s okay. These people just love having us; regardless of how we sounds. As long as you sing with enthusiasm and have fun with it, that is all I ask and all they want. I do not want to hear anyone complain about how the group did or how one person did, etc. SHOW SOME LOVE!! Okay???

So good to hear. Hope to join you all in a few weeks. I'm excited to see how this is taking shape--we can be more creative now than what's traditionally called for at holiday time. Should be an enjoyable show!

Great. We had a great turnout. Everybody sounds great (we didn't get to hear Adam as he had to leave early). Adam provided us with his expertise as a sound man and we also have Sherry, who volunteered to be our Mistress of Ceremonies at the shows. I've got a good feeling about this.

Had some technical difficulties which forced us to deal with aspects that we hadn't anticipated. Everyone that showed up was very cooperative and helpful. Thanks especially to Adam and Walt!!

We are running a bit late today with everything, so I might be a bit late for this.

Guys, I'll have to table this for a few weeks. I desperately need to drum up new business.

My sincere apologies to the group. I almost forgot that I had a previously set conflict. I will try to make the next practice.
