Kundalini Yoga and Advanced Yogic Practices

The funny thing about Yoga is the how many of us perceive the various asana (positions) resembling pretzels as advanced; in my personal opinion these are not advanced but impractical. A purpose of Yoga is to lead one toward greater comfort within one's own skin. As one progresses in their Yogic practice the intensity of the practice need not progress in terms of how strenuous the activity is but in how precise the movement/relaxation/contraction become. The name of the game is cultivating sensitivity, and one of the ways we can do this is through direct interaction with the body's nervous system. When we begin the inner work associated with various practices we begin to send a very clear signal to the body it is Ok to release tension, and that we will surrender to what rises. The human experience is passenger consciousness, meaning we are here simply to have experiences and make choices; but in the grand scheme of it all we must realize that there is more we do not understand about the nature of creation than what we do, this is faith and this is advanced.
